Scale is a one of function feature in AE that makes the footage bigger or smaller or resize for short word. With scale you can create a zoom transition for it like ease-in or ease-out. This scale transition is one of common feature that editors use.
Scale tool in AE
Scale tool have keyframes, chain x/y, & value of scale itself.
Scale Graph
In Scale graph just have the value scale itself. If you want to have moving scale itself turn on keyframe, put first value 100% and last frame is 0%.
Scale Graph with unchained x & y
If you unchain the x and y, you can create a scale transition with different x and y value.
Zoom in in scale
Zoom in makes the footage scale from small to big. Fast at beginning and slowed down at the end.

Bounce Zoom in makes the footage scale from small to big but with little bounce at the end. Slow at beginning and getting faster at the end and slow scale down to last frame.
